Hot dogs are smoked until flavorful, chopped into bite-size pieces, then smoked again in a sticky sauce made with BBQ sauce, hot honey, and butter. Equipment

  • 1 Smoker I use my Pit Boss Smoker, it's my ride or die
  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Cutting Board
  • 1 Aluminum Pan
  • 1 Spoon

Ingredients

  • 16 Hot dogs
  • Your favorite BBQ seasoning
  • Yellow mustard or oil binder
  • 1 Cup Barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 Cup Hot honey
  • 1 Stick Butter sliced into pieces

Instructions

  • Season the hot dogs — Coat the hot dogs lightly with mustard or oil as a binder, then season generously with your favorite BBQ seasoning.
  • First smoke — Place hot dogs directly on the smoker at 275°F for 1 hour.
  • Chop — Remove from the smoker and chop each hot dog into 3-4 bite-size pieces, depending on how big or small you want the burnt ends.
  • Build the pan — Transfer the chopped pieces into an aluminum pan. Add the barbecue sauce and hot honey, then top with the sliced butter distributed evenly over the top.
  • Second smoke — Return the pan to the smoker at 275°F, uncovered, for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until the sauce is nice, sticky, and bubbly.

Notes

No brown sugar in this version — just BBQ sauce, hot honey, and butter for a clean sweet-heat balance
